Canada by Canoe is a record-breaking 8,000+ km journey across Canada being undertaken to break the world record for the longest single season canoe trip, and to raise $1 million for True North Aid. Led by three passionate adventurers: Will, Georges, and Nolan, our 200+ day expedition will span two oceans, six provinces, and three continental divides. Travelling nearly a full marathon in distance each day, Canada by Canoe seeks to push the limits of what is possible within the realm of human powered travel.
Our most recent project: Canoe4Covid, which was very similar in nature, was wildly successful. Spanning 60 days and 2000+ km across Ontario, the project got national news coverage, MP recognition, and raised over $87,000 for Food Banks Canada. The self-produced Canoe4Covid documentary series was a hit as well, attaining over 20,000 views on YouTube and winning awards in various international film festivals. We have no doubt that Canada by Canoe will see similar success, and we hope that you will join us as a part of our mission!
After raising over $87,000 for Food Banks Canada during COVID, we realized the potential we had to promote social causes with our expeditions, and were inspired to take things even further. After travelling extensively through northern communities over the years we have seen first hand the immense barriers faced by those living in these communities. We believe that everyone deserves the right to equal opportunity, and we wanted to do something to bring our country a little closer to that goal. With Canada by Canoe we hope to dramatically expand the scope of our past fundraising by raising $1 million for True North Aid.
True North Aid believes that Indigenous self-governance and self-determination are key to addressing inequities in northern communities and empowering Indigenous peoples to build a brighter future. The charity has served communities in the Canadian North since 2009, with the mission of providing practical humanitarian aid through community-led initiatives and supplies programs. Their work helps to overcome problems such as a lack of access to clean drinking water, egregious grocery bills, and many other issues faced by many northern communities.
